Stewart Mandel, a great SI writer, and a Northwestern alum might I add, released his post spring game Top 25 today, with Ohio State at number 2, most likely because they are kind of 1b behind Georgia at 1a.
The other teams in the rankings: Wisconsin at 10, Illinois at 19, and Penn State at 21. Not sure how I feel about either Illinois or Penn State, especially with the Nittany Lions minus Sean Lee. But the best thing about college football is that someone always steps up.
In this day in age, it’s impressive to have four teams in the top 25. 5 or 6 years ago, we might not have said that, but the power conferences have grown to about 8 now and teams like BYU and Mizzou are turning into giants.
